Homemade Crafts for Christmas and Cheap-Easy Presents

Hi everyboday! I thougth I would just post a quick quick post on what we are planning for Christmas giving this year. I know that all of us are always in a pinch, and that this year things look especially slim when it comes to our wallets......

So lets have a craft night or entire day! There are so many things we can make for each other that are awesome! I am COMPLETELY INTO the idea of getting and giving homemade gifts, ESPECIALLY after walking the aisles of Target tonight. Everything seemed boring and aloof. And the things that didn't were cards and crafty type things I KNOW I CAN MAKE!
SO put down your ideas......
I say we all throw a bunch of ideas around........Here's some of mine.

1. Homesewn patchwork scarves.....how easy is that?
2. Memory or clutter boxes- things we remember from our childhood in the form of photos, quotes, treasures, trinkets, pieces of fabric etc.... about one of us.
3. Get well kits. (you all know me about herbs. This gift would include a book and quite a few herbal remedies and the directions on HOW NOT TO GET SICK EVER!)
4. Home-decorated pillowcases
5. Yummy treat and coffee baskets
6. Recipe collection books with homewritten cards of your faves....
7. Mixed CD
8. A framed sign with a great quote
9. Decorated frames with photos (thrift store frames- establishing tiny hook nails in the back for hangin is easy!)
10. Photo Collage frames (especially with photos already inserted)
11. DIY kits (with things like those tiny hooks to hang up frames, and tiny screwdrivers, and maybe a cheap and easy staple gun and a glue gun and super glue in a cute little old lunchbox)
12. Beaded necklaces or other crafty necklaces

Check out this link for making new photos look vintage and crazy. Kind of cheesier than actually buying and using a real Holga or Polaroid....but hey.......
Here's the link

OK. When's Christmas Gift and Card Craft Day???????????

Since I most likely won't be able to attend craft day, will someone make me the homesewn patchwork scarves. Sounds so nice and cozy. Good ideas Addie. Matt and I are working on some of our own homemade craft goods.

i wish we could get a hold of some of mary's goat milk and make little soaps. i had a dream last night that everyone was in provo helping matt and amy move into a new house which was really cute and had an attic with a gable window and a front porch with steps and all that. anyway the kids were opening a few christmas presents and mom and dad had gone shopping at costco and there were PILES of STUFF. like a big giant walking doll that could open and close her mouth and stuff like that. i had never seen so many toys in my life.

this made me realize, amy, could you give us a list of a few things the kids might really like this year? something to help make sure we don't buy toys that they already have or simply do not need? i would really appreciate it. i know jarom got some awesome stuff for his birthday, so what is left to give him?

i know we are going small for christmas, but i do want to get people one little thing. i am using my big change jar which is full. so if anyone wants to make a little list of book titles or cds or movies or project kits or anything else you want, please do! mom, it doesn't mean we have to get that person everything on his list! just for ideas..

anyway addie i would love to do crafts. i also want to put up all my decorations and make new christmassy stuff like we were talking about. how about sunday?

amy i wish you could come! but we'll see you soon with bells on.

Heather, the kids don't need a single thing. Bella has told me several times that she would like roller skates though. But something cheap and wonderful would be a home made tape of all the Disney Songs. We, I mean she would just love that. I think more than anything the kids would love to spend time with you all. They miss and adore you all like crazy and would just love your time= attention.
