we will try to be there but darin, stan and i are going to be out of town doing business in sonoma. also i work at 5:30 the following morning. so this meeting better be a well-behaved one.

other than that, i do think it is a good idea to meet together and discuss our trip. as long as it is not a negative discussion and we try to remain positive and excited about the fact that we all have the chance to take a real fun road trip/vacation/extended camping trip together.

i suppose some sort of speak-meeting would be a good idea to clear anything up that might be hazy in anyones mind. but what i want to stress is that this trip is a simple one. there is very little absolute planning going on. we know where we are going to be (general regions of the park) and when we are going to be there. other than that, activities and stuff dont really need to be planned. i want to plan a one nite backpacking trip either tuesday or wendesday nite. however, other than that, the way i see it, spontaneity is pretty much totally welcome. the park is massive and invites endless possibilities to explore and be amazed by the beauty. the way i see this trip, and have been seeing it since ive wanted to go there, is that i am going to embrace a journey of total freedom and peace and wonder in such a beautiful mountainous place. too much absolute planning might mess that up a little bit, i think.

also! something i want to stress is that there really isnt a need for us all to do the same things all the time. we absolutely can disagree on something we might want to do on a certain day or afternoon or morning, and split up into groups or solo missions to go do those things we want to do! of course, we'll all be in the same areas camping so we'll be limited to our surroundings (furthest thing from a limitation), but in that sense no one should be kept from doing what or going where or seeing what they want. that is the nature of this trip. ITS FREEDOM, EVERYONE!!!! embrace it.

amy, yes, food should definitely just be provided for oneself, or couple-self. ie, me and em will split food, but just me and em. and so it goes.

good idea mikie, there is much to be anticipated. its going to be pure glory.

so basically what im saying is that an hour-to-hour itinerary is not something we are going to have. just a humble outline. freedom!!!

hmmmmm.....I don't have a couple :( Can't we plan like two or three meals as a giant rad family buffet of yumminess?
And then bring all our own goods too?

also, totally can't make the meeting. Don't get off work in time....but don't worry, I won't argue about anything anymore cause now I have all the right days off and that's all that really mattered to me. And also, I am totally up for driving and getting Mikie to Missoula Thursday (aug 13th) morn, which makes me want to suggest the hike be Tuesday and not Wednesday, for Mikie's and his drivers' sakes. But that's about all I have to say about it. It's gonna be way fun.

Oh, one more thing. What motel are we staying in Friday night? Missoula?

Love you guys.

Adie

what i meant by I don't have a couple...is ---that Art is no longer coming. HE can't afford it (yes we operate financials kind of seperately - ) AND he got a brand new job which starts THAT weekend. :( I will miss him greatly.

Hey Adie! We will bring as much food as we can load in our car. You can eat every meal with us if you like and we are going to try and do desserts like every night for everyone!!

good message Joey. But the problem lies in bad decisions that are made for the group before the group has a say, IE leaving at 4am on Friday, no group shared meals, pooled gas compensation, etc. We absolutely need to figure out these concerns before we leave. I know that I have opinions about them, which means there's a 90% chance everyone else does too. Can we at least discuss or blog some kind of discussion that involves these points of concern?
Mainly, timelines. Unwillingness to wake up leave the first day at 4 am. Willingness to afford motels ($5 per person) on long nights, family meals (a big one we've seemed to neglect of late) and the vehicle splitting. We must talk about this stuff before we try to set out, or there will be mass confusion and arguing, which is never fun.
Let's do this trip freely but also responsibly, since there will be 17+ people attending. Gracias!

i know we are talking about all this tonite (supposedly) but i just want to make something clear. i have spoken to 95% of the people who are going on this trip (everybody but you and candice) and nobody has a problem with anything thats been planned about the way we are getting there and where we are staying and the way we will be responsible for our own food. i wonder why you call leaving early in the morning on friday a "bad decision." can you explain that please? do you not understand that we are driving 18 hours? i know you probably have a problem with that too. but other than adie, you are the only one. so maybe the people that have problems with the way we (the majority of the group whom ive shared my ideas with) are planning on getting there and dealing with this trip, should go about it in different ways. IE leave at different times, take extra time/days to get there, share food between themselves, not pool gas compensation(? not quite sure why that wouldnt be the fair way...) etc. anyways.
from how i see it now it looks like the problems you have with the way ive planned this trip for the people ive planned it with may very well destroy the kind of experience i want to have. so im going to suggest right now that we DO NOT caravan. that might fix lots of problems. but lets discuss that later.

im leaving at 4 am on friday and so are emily, heather, darin, nick, stan, and martin (people who are riding in the van.)

also, the group HAS had a say (dont try and turn me into a dictator man its really annoying) and GUESS WHAT! everyone is fine with being responsible for their own food (except adie's brief comment below), driving long distances, waking up early, sharing costs, etc etc etc every single other thing that we have talked about.
