pretty crazy amazing. So sad our favorite place to explore is gone. We must go and explore the new one!!
Thats the perfect way to look at it, sweet amy. Its just different now and exciting in a new way. Initially it seems jarring and sad to see those pictures, but it's just nature! And Nature is ever powerful AND ever changing. And we love her for it :)
still beautiful. i still want to be swimming in those waters right now. and hiking down there and walking those good roads. let's go soon guys. it is good for the soul.
it looks like so much less water is pouring over.......
Sad. But I bet over the next couple years it forms some pools that are deeper and it begins to take on that aura of ancient beauty again. It just seems like a young waterfall now, which is fine. It needs some more limestone friends to hang out in its waters.
matt, is it just me or is mooney falls kind of a manmade pool area now? Like it looks like something was constructed to hold the water in.
nevermind. I read about it at havasupaitribe.com. They did build an artificial wall to create a pool at Mooney. Also there are two new falls - Rock Falls and New Navajo Falls. It's so sad and endearing. They are like 3 feet tall.
I've seen pictures of people jumping in (I think in Rock Falls), and it looked at least 15 feet highish. I really want to go back.
