a big fat Me Too. I'm ready as well. I want to see every National Park. The van is back in action and ready to roll (IE midnight Nevada City trip stints) so let's make the most of having a love for the road!
I could pitch about three ideas I have. Maybe we all should and see how it goes. Here's one: I want to see Chaco Canyon and feel some New Mexican heat in my blood. If anyone's down for a desert adventure, with White Sands and ancient ruins and turquoise-laden reservation lands, then I'd be into it.
Here's another: I want to do an overnight rafting trip in the wild. Rafting to camp, sing songs around the river bend, dig latrines, sleep under the stars, it's the ultimate raftpacking experience.
A third: I want to backpack Kings Canyon or Sequoia National Park. I hear the epicness of those mountains will swallow any breath in your lungs. They are the peaks of royalty, and so close, and somehow we've never seen them before; glistening coxcombs at our doorstep. King's Canyon is a mysterious imaginary place for me, and a frightful beautiful place we've yet to conquer.

There's a couple ideas.

amy i love your adventuresome attitude. i cant wait to come out there and do some fun stuff with you guys. the so-far plans sound so amazing! canoeing has really got me.

mikie, all those ideas sound so rad! i am into new mexico. me and em were just talking about how rad itd be to go live in new mexico for a while, out some little road into the desert live in a tiny oasis house with expansive desert all around. there is some real magic desert land out there and we need to explore it more. also, im super into the other two ideas. kings canyon and sequoia have always called to me.we'll have to have some people do presentations and then use a voting system.

guess what, there are still more pictures going up right now! and addie still has to put up hers. anyway it breaks my heart with longing too to get ready for the next trip. now there are already so many good ideas! carolann has been to the Lost Coast four times and told me all about the backpacking trip we could do. how shall we ever pick? wish we could do one per month!!!

I say -Lets do them ALL!!! We have all the time in the world! I think doing darins would be super easy because thats in everyones back yard but ours. Didn't someone say that it's only a 4 day trip. And we have to do New Mexico as a longer trip like our last one. I really don't see why we couldn't do at least one to two short trips a year like the lost coast, river rafting, sequoia and then doing one big one a year! I love you guys sooooooo much. The only hard part is making sure you all have the right dates. SO lets not plan these things a day in advance, give it at least two because it takes us a day just to get there and we DO NOT want to miss out. We need everyone- ie ART!

good points amy. and yes the Lost Coast one is a four day backpacking trip approximately. We could do it in 3 but that's 10 miles a day which may not allow enough time for enjoying scenery and the trip itself. one day to get there and set up the car situation (one vehicle stays at the bottom and another goes to the top, that will take some figuring out) and i guess a day to get back. it is only about five or six hours away, max.

i love the idea of one big/one little trip per year. new mexico would be as long as glacier it's true, and also we could do it in the fall, taking school into consideration of course. we could even stay a night in the cabins addie likes in moab! i think it's on the way to chaco canyon.

one time i did a presentation about the anasazi people. i find that stuff fascinating. you know what would be fun? if everyone learned something unique about the area we are going and then presented it to everyone else. so we are gaining a whole bunch of knowledge. mattie would be so good at this. it could be natural, cultural, historical, whatever.
